Mertasari Beach became a real testament to environmental care during the Beach Clean-Up event held on February 1, 2025. This event was part of the series of celebrations for the 25th Anniversary of SPBand the 17th Anniversary of IPB International. With a spirit of preserving nature, all students and staff gathered early in the morning to clean the beach area of trash that marred its natural beauty.

This activity was not just a cleaning effort but also a tangible manifestation of SPB and IPB International‘s commitment to supporting sustainable tourism. As educational institutions in the fields of tourism and hospitality, both aim to set an example that the industry should not only focus on service but also have a deep concern for the environment.

With a spirit of togetherness, participants combed the coastline, picking up plastic waste, food scraps, and various other types of litter. Not only that, they also educated the local community about the importance of maintaining beach cleanliness as a vital tourism asset that must be preserved.

As part of their long-term contribution to the environment, SPB and IPB International also donated several trash bins placed at strategic points along Mertasari Beach. It is hoped that these facilities will help the community and tourists become more aware of proper waste disposal, ensuring the beach remains clean and comfortable for everyone to enjoy.

The students and lecturers involved in this activity gained valuable experience, learning not only about the importance of environmental conservation but also understanding that change must start from themselves. They realized that every small action, such as disposing of trash properly, has a significant impact on environmental sustainability.

The Beach Clean-Up event also received support from various parties, including environmental communities, local government, and tourists who happened to be at the location. The participation of various community elements proved that environmental care is a shared responsibility that must continue to be promoted.

On this occasion, the Head of the Rectorate emphasized that SPB and IPB International remain committed to protecting the environment as part of their social responsibility. Similar programs will continue to be promoted to instill sustainability values in students and the wider community.
Meanwhile, some participants expressed pride in being involved in this activity. They felt that the small actions taken today could have a significant impact in the future. A clean beach not only benefits the environment but also the tourism sector, which is the backbone of Bali’s economy.

At the end of the event, a strong sense of togetherness was evident. Participants shared stories, took group photos, and enjoyed the beauty of Mertasari Beach, which now looked much cleaner. The event concluded with high hopes that awareness of the importance of environmental conservation would not stop here but continue in daily life.

Through this Beach Clean-Up, SPB and IPB International invite all parties to care more for the environment. May this concrete action inspire many to join in maintaining the cleanliness and preservation of beaches for a greener and more sustainable future.
